Filofestival is a volunteer non-profit association founded in 1996 to help organizing Festivaletteratura, an international 5 days’ gathering of writers from all over the world, entertaining the audience with readings, talks, lectures, theatre shows and concerts.. Many occasions are created for readers and authors to meet and keep their dialogue alive, and build and ideal place to exchange opinions beyond any barriers, far away from institutions or arid conference rooms. Almost 100,000 are the people of every age coming to Mantova every September, which makes Festivaletteratura one of the most well-known literary events in Italy and Europe and a unique opportunity of sharing ideas and thoughts.
The archive opened its doors in 2010. Since then it has hosted students, scholars and all people who were interested in consulting materials. It comprises the digitization of a large part of the assets, which is divided into several sections: photographic, sound, audiovisual and graphics. All the publications of Festivaletteratura, the whole press release, a small library and an emeroteca (newspaper library) are available there, and testify the birth and the development of the Festival.
