“A Training Course on Developing effective communication means and competencies to support active participation»
Since Social Media is in young people’s life, as a space that offers communication, interaction and socialization, is becoming a useful youth work tool to youth organizations to support and encourage young people to be informed and to take action.
Keeping away from it is no longer an option!! Social networking has become of vital importance since it is the means that connects individuals and (other) organisations who want to connect with other organisations, network and promote their work.
This Training Course is designed for youth workers who work in NGO’s and are interested in developing effective communication means and competencies to support active participation of young people from different countries through social media tools, strategies and methodology.
The aim of the project is to develop skills and competences of youth workers and those working with young people, to support active participation of young people through the use of social media. They need to include appearing in social media as a part of their PR strategy.
However, sending a chaotic, unplanned and uncoordinated message through social media can do more harm than good either. Creating a catchy, lively, engaging image of the organization in social media requires practical skills – and the idea of this training course is to equip members of youth NGOs in those skills
• To develop a strategic action plan for use the social media
• To understand the opportunities and risks of online social networking
• To develop creative and attractive ways to apply social media for active participation
• To explore ways to create lively, engaging images of youth organizations in order to come closer to young people.
During the course, non-formal educational methods will be used, such as:
plenary sessions, discussions, workshops, open space, brainstorms, simulation games etc. It will give young leaders a chance to discuss the significance and potential of the social media as a space for communication and mobilization, the perils of social networking, as well as to exchange best practices from their organizations and countries.
Project participants will be youth leaders, youth workers, NGO members, educators, active in associations and so on.
