Tackling radicalization through education and youth work

The main aim of this project is to address one of the most pressing concerns of European societies – the problem of youth radicalisation. On one hand, young people, often affected by unemployment and other negative consequences of the economic and social crisis are becoming increasingly susceptible to radicalisation (both online and as a result of peers’ pressure). On the other hand, the rise of radical terrorists and religious extremists leads to increased social tension between different groups within societies, with representatives of minorities often wrongly blamed and stigmatised by representatives of majorities. These problems are mostly visible in Western European countries, as Belgium, France and UK. All of this is taking place within the context of increased introversion among public. People seem to be interested only in their own affairs, separating themselves from others with “walls or indifference”. In our project we want to address these challenges by deconstructing the existing problems, promoting educational solutions and fostering strategic cooperation between youth organisations and public authorities. Therefore, we have decided to organise a training course for youth workers and youth leaders on strategies for preventing radicalisation. The project aims to provide participants with required competencies on youth inclusion, social cohesion intercultural dialogue integration and conflict management, as tools of the prevention of youth radicalisation; to increase the knowledge about the root causes of the youth radicalisation; to empower participants to be able to act as multipliers, using these competences in their daily work and thus empowering their peers and young people they work with; to facilitate cooperation between youth organisations and local stakeholders on this concern.
The objectives are:
Working language will be English. All participants should have good level of English skills not only to be able to understand the language, but also participate in discussions and act as independent facilitators of activities and learning process in English.
The participants are expected to attend the whole duration of the project and participate in all activities. If an emergency happens and you need to be absent for a short time, the team should be informed in advance. Please use the free time for meeting friends. If you miss any part of the course only without a valid reason (illness or unforeseen grave circumstances) and without informing the team and/or if you cause major problems for the team and or the participant group, the team will have to take measures going from partial refunding of the tuition, travel expenses, board and lodging by the participant up to exclusion from the course in extreme situations.
Please note that during the course the team have the authority to take decisions in a day-to-day life as well as the arrangement of the programme.

One young people with fewer opportunities (YPWFO) for partner organization following the criterias below
– young people with learning difficulties
– early school-leavers and school dropouts
– lower qualified persons
– young people with poor school performance
– young people from remote or rural areas
– young people living on small islands or peripheral regions
– young people from urban problem zones
– young people from less serviced areas ( limited public transport, poor facilities, abandoned villages)
– young people with a low standard of living, low income, dependence on social welfare system
– in long-term unemployment or poverty
– young people who are homeless, young people in debt or with financial problems.
Building Bridges members and/or long term unemployed (proved by scanned document) will have preference to this volunteer service.
As soon as we get the list of all participants, we will keep you updated with all the new information regarding the project. Selected participants will receive the detailed infosheet after the selection process.
2. Pay the registration fee (40€) by Paypal or bank transfer to :Asociación Building Bridges, CIF G85466886. This registration fee includes one year membership to our National and International activities.
* It is compulsory to send application form, CV and motivation letter and pay the registration fee at the same time in order to be within the pre-selection process.
If you are not selected by the sending or hosting organisation, we will reimburse the fee. Please see conditions of Erasmus+ grants
