The school is situated in the suburb of Vilnius (about 20 kilometres away from the city center) known for its lakes and parks. It is easily reachable by public transport. The ride takes about 40 minutes from the city center. School has a comfortable and modern library, sports and dance halls, an outside garden and a sports field. These facilities are available for pupils and the school community for non-formal learning.
As the school is really new, the strategy, traditions and methods are still under development. The main values of the community are creativity, respect, responsibility.
Volunteer will have an opportunity to work with a combination of three major age groups.
Routine school activities include formal education and a wide range of extra-curricular activities (non-formal education) involving sports, arts, dancing, theatre, nature, etc. The school is also equipped for students with learning difficulties and special needs, with a great team of specialists providing special support: social pedagogue, special pedagogue, psychologist, speech therapist etc.
Volunteer will have a pro – active role, assisting the other members of the school team: teachers, social pedagogue, speech therapist and special pedagogue in the individual work with children that have learning difficulties. As well the volunteer would organize the post school activities of non-formal learning. There are a lot of organized activities for pupils after classes; so the volunteer would join the educators to create the activities for children.
The school wants to involve international volunteers in the community for openness to the other and also to encourage volunteer activities among the students in the school itself and out of it. To foster the values of tolerance, responsibility, diversion and the volunteerism itself.
