the second phase includes a network project that aims at providing a sustainable network of youth organizations. This activity will take place in Modica (Italy) february 12 to 18, 2018.
Deadline for call submission: 04 October 2017
Modica is situated in the South-East of Sicily. This town is well-named because of her Baroque Churches and Buildings and for her traditions.
Modica and all The Valley of Noto is World Heritage Site for UNESCO since 2002.
As the city developed it gradually became divided into “Modica Alta” (Upper Modica) and “Modica Bassa” (Lower Modica).
During the last century the city has extended and developed new suburbs which include Sacro Cuore (or “Sorda”), Monserrato, Idria, these are often referred to as Modern Modica; both old and modern quartersof the city are today joined by one of Europe’s higher bridge, the Guerrieri bridge (300 m).
About the project
The project involves youth organizations from Italy, Greece Turkey, Armenia, Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Spain, Romania and Lithuania.
The first phase (10.10.2017 – 19.10.2017) is about the creation of participatory broadcast that encourage youth participation, new forms of participation and encourage youth entrepreneurship in the field of web-radio productions. Through this stage, organisations and their youth workers will be able to help young people to create its own “brand” business that is not mediated by the “world” of adults, but absolutely free of editorial lines, special interests and other impositions, getting able to influence society and make “critical mass”, involving young people who are often subject to social exclusion. This phase also aims to provide to participants technical knowledge that will enable each of them to create a web radio and manage it in all its components, making them more autonomous and independent. This phase involves 22 young people and youth workers.
Programa completo de las becas producción radio
The overall aim of the project is to develop a partnership between European youth bodies by building an innovative strategy created “at the bottom” focused on the fulfilment and development of a network of European web radios. The phenomenon of web radios is comparable with that one happened in the 70’s during the “Free Radios” period.
A web radio can represent a basic tool and a space where it is possible to share free opinions and ideas. So that, the project wants to replicate and broaden this phenomenon within a European context.
The project wants to focus on the use of web radios to facilitate the communication on different levels. We are thinking about the involvement of bodies acting in the field of education, like cultural and social organization and universities. This tool will be used, for example, by a youth organization that wants to facilitate the access to the public to some opportunities within the Erasmus+ programme (e.g. EVS) or simply disseminate the results of some project achieved. On the other hand, a university can take advantage on a web radio by spreading news and researches in the related field, enhancing the interest and the participation of young people –and not only- in some particular and important subject.
The project will be supported by a web radio organisation already existing since some years, which will facilitate the access of this tool to those organisations without any experience in it.
The following activities will take place in order to fulfil the above-mentioned goals*:
Ø Realisation of a multimedia, open source and e-learning platform, characterized by contents produced by youth European web radios organization. The platform will promote the dissemination of video tutorials about how to create a web radio, how to broadcast it, which tools shall be used, business plan etc.
Ø Development of a European radio show schedule managed by the partners engaged, with the goal to promote radio shows which share subjects linked with the “Europe 2020: smart, sustainable and inclusive growth” strategy. Therefore, radio shows connected with innovation, environmental sustainability, inclusion, social innovation subjects -as well as with the promotion of the European funding opportunities- will be broadcasted;
Ø Organization of seminars for the promotion of entrepreneurship within radio field -with specific focus on fundraising and sponsorship- dedicated to youth cultural organization and universities;
Ø Promotion of learning by doing activities focus on the participation in the project of young European NEET;
Ø Development of an opportunity map, within the web platform above-mentioned, dedicated to job, internships and volunteering opportunities;
Ø Promotion of handbooks and of an on line helpdesk in order to support and assist youth European people within the management of administrative procedures focused on how to create a web radio.
Ø Final meeting in order to collect, discuss and disseminate the results achieved.
Ø “Festival of the web radios”, broadcasted live by all the web radios involved.
