SUMMARY

Citizenship and migration are two of the most complex issues that concerns the whole international society and in particular Europe and the Euro-Mediterranean area. The overall objective of the project is, therefore, to organize a training course that allows youth workers and professionals in education and socio-educational learning to expand their knowledge in the field of citizenship, European citizenship and immigration focusing in particular on the figures of the clandestine and refugee.

To achieve this objective, the TC will be characterized by approaches and methods of non-formal learning and learning by doing that will aim to achieve the goals outlined by the Erasmus + program (Key Action 1: Mobility of youth). In particular, these methods and approaches will be used to investigate the relationship between foreign citizens and European citizens, to show the different national laws in terms of reception, protection and integration of foreigners, to draw a clear line on the national procedures to acquire citizenship. In addition, national cultures will be valued by wrapping them in a global perspective to promote a culture that allows to bring the people together through European values. Another key objective of the TC will be to help youth workers and professionals in social and educational field, to get specific skills, methods and approaches to work in migration and multicultural contexts.

The young participants involved in the activities will come from different cultural and social backgrounds. In particular, there will be youth workers and professionals involved in the field of education, training and youth, but also young immigrants, interested in broadening and deepening their knowledge on the concept of citizenship and immigration. The groups for each country will be composed of four people, two of them will be youth workers and other two will be young people with a background related to experiences of migration. In accordance with the objectives of the Erasmus +, it would be preferred to select participants with a high level of motivation and interest in the project, but with fewer opportunities.

The participants of the project, coming from different countries and contexts, will be able to find an international environment suitable for peer-education, discussions, exchange of ideas with respect to the topics addressed during the TC.

This will allow to relate the reality of the citizen with that one of the stranger through a perspective of social inclusion, cooperation and development of common interests and needs in which those who works in the field of socio- educational learning and education can be the guarantor. The meeting of different  cultures and backgrounds will have substantial prospects for achieving the final goal: on one hand the expansion of knowledge on the right to European citizenship and the rights of immigrants; on the other hand, will be the acquisition of methods and approaches used in contexts related to migration and multiculturality.

The impact that the project will have on the participants will surely be important. In fact, the training course aims to increase knowledge and share European values and law. Participants will have the opportunity to demonstrate and repeat what they have learned in their future projects, in civil society and in everyday life, implementing, thus, a process of growth not only professional but also human.

Moreover, through the implementation of the project, the participating organizations will be able to increase their visibility at European and international level. Indeed, they will grow by acquiring greater expertise in international project management and in innovative learning and educational approaches. It will also strengthen the cooperation between the participating partners by ensuring a strong partnership for future projects.

The main target groups who will receive a benefit from the project will be youth leaders and professionals in the field of education, youth and socio-educational learning, and young learners. In particular, because the TC focuses on citizenship, the status of foreign and immigrant, refugee and asylum seeker, the main learners will be young migrants and foreigners who are in Europe and who seek to become citizens. The impact of the project will be decisive at the local level because it will give the opportunity to the participants and organizations to put into practice, through the dissemination of the materials and the organization of the workshops and multiplier events, what they have learned during the TC. Moreover, the continuous contact and cooperation between the participating organizations, the new methods and best practices learned by the participants, the dissemination of materials produced and skills developed by participants through the TC, will be a source of inspiration for future projects at European and international level.
