VOLUNTARIADO EUROPEO FINLANDIA

Internationality is increasingly taking more important role, also in the new curriculums, as the world is constantly transformed by the globalisation. With this project the global education can be supported and internationalism attended in daily bases at Tampere Steiner school reaching hundreds of young people. Internationality is also a way to tolerance, open-mindedness and new learning possibilities which we want to offer to the volunteers, students and pupils and the staff of Tampere Rudolf Steiner school alike.
Steiner schools and Waldorf education is an international movement and more cooperation and contacts abroad would be needed to help to increase the mobility of the youth at Tampere Steiner school and local areas. The activities are mostly for student of 15-19 years old, but also some (like break-time sports) for pupils of 6-14 years old.
The objectives in this project are to affect and enrich the life of the volunteers, all the people at the Steiner school where the volunteers work and as much as possible also the local people and schools in Tampere, giving courage to the youth to go abroad, do voluntary work and become more active European citizens. Everyone included in the project will realize something new about their own and other cultures, can develop new and old skills and exchange experiences, increase their courage to speak foreign language, learn more about themselves, become more understanding and have a wider view of the world after the project. The biggest need for these objectives are in the youth of the Steiner school and by increasing the the awareness of Erasmus+ and it’s key actions as well as the safety of the programmes and informal and non-formal learning, knowledge of other cultures, interest towards other humans and voluntary work, embracing the need of social skills and experience will help to reach the aims of this project.

Condiciones vida en voluntariado europeo Finlandia

accommodation is here in Kurjen Tila eco-village, in shared room with shared bathroom, kitchen and sauna. Because of the shared bedroom, we’d need male candidates (as the other chosen volunteer is male)! The work starts at 9am in the school and there’s possibility to get a lift from community members in the morning, but also the local buss works well. Volunteers with driving license would be good.

The volunteers will be living in our community house, pictured in the background image of this page. The immediate surrounding area is peaceful countryside of Vesilahti. Vesilahti is a nice small municipality of roughly 4500 residents, 35 kilometers from the third biggest city of Finland, Tampere. Kurjen Tila has strong connections with Tampere, most of our residents are employed within the city. You can research the surrounding area through google maps here.

Public transport between Vesilahti and Tampere is solid, but if the need arises we have a car permanently in the use of our volunteers.

Work is to be done mostly from 9-15 from Monday to Friday + 1-2 hours independent working. Lunch is offered at the school 5 days a week. There is possibility on saturdays to join community lunch in our ecovillage. Volunteers will get 80€ per month for groceries and 125€ pocket money for other personal use.
