English Description of the Project and Main Objectives:

The current education system in Romania faces a lack of practical skills to be transfered to students from small ages. Most of the teaching methods are based on theory and big amounts of information, thus the students reach the point to have a serious lack of practical key competences, which are essensial for personal development since early ages. The civil society and NGOs have an important role in trying to sustain the young people since early ages, in order to implement complementary methods of non-formal and informal education, in order to sustain the development of individuals.

The main objectives of the EVS stage are:

Development of entrepreneurial skills, cultural skills, communication in a foreign language , social and digital competences for volunteers and young people using means of non-formal education.

Development of the «Small Entrepreneur Interactive Guide».

 Creation of a large-scale network with the role of a meeting point for young people, volunteers, NGOs, youth workers, etc

 Implementation of youth events with young people from Targu-Jiu and Bucharest. EVS mobility –

Description and Main Activities:

The EVS mobility will be implemented in the following cities:

 Targu-Jiu-Romania https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T%C3%A2rgu_Jiu

The mobility will last for a 7 month period, between 1 October 2015 and 30 April 2016.

The project will involve 6 volunteers from Spain, Italy and Bulgaria (2 frome ach country).

The volunteers will work closely with gymnasium students and kindergarden children from Targu-Jiu and Bucharest.

The project will help the volunteers to develop their skills, abilities and competences by working closely with children and ensuring mentoring and after-school activities. The weekly activity schedule for volunteers consists in:

 The volunteers will work on project activities 5 days per week from Monday to Friday, meaning a total of 30 hours per week (6 hours/ day): – Non-formal activities and workshops in educational institutions from TarguJiu and Bucharest (Karolina Afterschool – Targu-Jiu, Ana lugojana Kindergarden – Bucharest, School 199 – Bucharest and others) – 4 hours per day from Monday to Friday – Romanian language sessions -2 hours (1 session/week) – Working in organization – 4 hours / week – Other non-formal events for youth in Targu-Jiu and Bucharest) – 4 hours/week

 The main activities will include working with gymnasium students and kindergarden children from Targu-Jiu and Bucharest. Most of the activities will take place in Karolina Afterschool in Targu-Jiu, and other primary school/kindergardens in Bucharest. The activities will be focused exclusively on non-formal education methods.

 The volunteers will benefit of 2 hours per week of Romanian language sessions.

 The volunteers will have 2 hours of mentorship meeting per week.  During the EVS mobility, there will be few activities that will take place outside Targu-Jiu and Bucharest, with youth from other local communities.

 Volunteers will also participate in the coordination team for various projects organized by the host association in Romania (youth exchanges, training courses, local projects, etc.)

Volunteer profile:

In order to take part in the EVS mobility, the candidates must fulfill the following criteria:

 Age of the volunteer must be between 18 and 30

 A gender balance is recommended

 The persons selected must be active, enthusiastic, have team spirit, prove willingness for involvement in voluntary activities involving young people

 Sound experience in working with young people or involvement in previous youth projects represents an advantage

 The volunteer must support the host organization in fulfilling the tasks according to the activities of the project

 Volunteers must have an average knowledge of English language Interested candidates will fill the Participant Profile Form and a Letter of Motivation, which will be submitted to the sending organizations for processing and further selection. Sending organizations will make the pre-selection of volunteers according to the criteria above. The final selection will be made by the host organization, following a Skype interview.

Transport:

Selected volunteers should purchase 2 way tickets from their country of origin to Bucharest, Romania. Arrival date should be no later than the end of October 2015. Departure date should be on 30 April 2016. Volunteers will buy the tickets only after the confirmation from host organization.

For international travel, the following travel cost limits apply per person: Spain 360€

Reimbursement of international travel costs will be made within 15 days from the arrival of volunteers. Reimbursement can only be done by bank transfer. For the plane transport, the original documents needed are:  E-ticket  Invoice  Proof of payment or receipt  Boarding passes

Local transport

The local transport in Targu-Jiu and Bucharest during the EVS mobility, as well as other costs directly related to project activities will be fully covered by the host organization. Each volunteer will receive during the 7 months of the EVS mobility the followings:  For Bucharest: Monthly subscription to the Bucharest Metro system with unlimited number of travels

 For Targu-Jiu: Monthly subscription to the Targu-Jiu metropolitan transport company (buses, troleys) with unlimited number of travels Accommodation and Meal: Targu-Jiu: Accomodation of the 2 volunteers will be made in a 2 room flat Bucharest:

Accomodation of the 4 volunteers will be made in a 3 room flat Volunteers will be hosted in rooms for 2 persons, with access to all facilities, including kitchen, bathrooms, etc.

The volunteers will have the living room for preparing the activities, meetings, leisure. Both accomodation facilities have good Wi-Fi Internet. Accommodation costs are fully covered by the host organization. Meal costs are covered by the host organization. Each volunteer will receive 140 euro/month as meal allocation. Aditionally, each volunteer will receive 60 euro/month representing pocket money.

Europass CV with picture (made in the last month) and skype name

Motivational letter, writing that your sending organisation will be “Building Bridges”. We ask all candidates to send a specific letter of motivation – why they want to volunteer with us rather than just a general EVS one.

Remember to write in the motivation letter that your sending institution is “Asociación Building Bridges”.
